Chopin's baptismal church, birthplace; Evening concert

On our way back to the hotel, we were stopped for a bit to let a parade of Warsaw engineering students pass.

A flower market on the street.

After lunch, we visited the beautiful brick church in which Chopin's parents were married and he was baptised.

The church is surrounded by what looks like a defensive wall, with towers on the corners and slits from which to fire arrows.

Storks nest all over Poland on specially-built platforms.  Centuries ago, they nested on the roofs of houses or, worse, on the chimneys.  At some point, the people began providing platforms to keep the birds off their roofs.

Our next stop was the museum at Chopin's birthplace in the village of Żelazowa Wola, which is on a beautiful estate.

After our tour, the museum closed to the public and we were treated to a piano recital of (of course) Chopin's music.  The pianist was excellent, but very different from the one we heard last night.  Hearing Chopin played in the house where he was born was something to remember.

The final event of the evening was dinner at a restaurant adjacent to the Chopin museum.  Traditional Polish fare, stuffed cabbage rolls this time.

As we were leaving, the museum was just turning off the lights.

We've had an excellent time in Warsaw, and are now saturated with Chopin.  Tomorrow we leave Warsaw for Krakow, a rather longish coach trip.
